Mark Twain was a pen name, his real name being Samuel Langhorne Clemens. An American author and humorist, was respected for his most popular books “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and its sequel, “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”, out of which the second was often referred to as "The Great American Novel".
In the honour of Mark Twain’s literary and educational contributions, this commemorative coin was produced at the United States Mint at West Point. The head comprises of a riveting portrait of Mark Twain with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “LIBERTY” and”2016.” The tail adorns a steamboat sailing across the Mississippi River. The inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “$5” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
